Women Entrepreneurs Today - Weekly Brief for May 5th

Hey there! I’m adding a new “feature” to StartUp Ladies in which I give you a weekly brief of women entrepreneur sitings and happenings. I will try to do this once a week; we’ll see how it goes.

  • Wall Street Journal wants to know where the women are in their Top 20 most influential business thinkers ranking.
  • Newswise released the following article/report from the Center for Women’s Leadership at Babson CollegeWomen’s Entrepreneurship matters—women are creating and running businesses around the world, contributing to economies that represent more than 70% of the world’s population and 93% of global GDP (2007).
  • Business Wire reports - Yahoo! Inc. today announced recipients of its Seeds for Success: Empowering Women Entrepreneurs grant program, choosing three unique, innovative business ideas from more than 5,500 proposals.
  • Reuters reports - ‘Mompreneurs‘ fill market gaps in baby, mother products.
  • Entrepreneur.com - The second annual Women in Charge conference, hosted by Entrepreneur and OPEN from American Express.
  • Washington Post reports - The Small Business Administration’s Office of Advocacy today released a study that examines why women are emerging as a fast-growing sector of new small business owners.
